Slipways Salcombe
Slipways Salcombe, a perfect showcase of our expertise: reimagining old, tired properties into luxurious, contemporary retreats. Located in one of the most sought after areas in the UK, this project demonstrates our expertise in redesigning spaces and refurbishing properties to enhance both guest and owner experiences.
Previously a holiday let this beautifully light and centrally located flat at Whitestrand is ideally situated close to all the main amenities of Salcombe. Despite its previous success in the rental market, the apartment needed a refresh to enhance its appeal and raise its standards to match those of luxury holiday letting.
Client request: Our clients tasked us with transforming a tired bunk room into a proper bedroom, updating the kitchen, expanding the dining area to accommodate six for better entertaining, and modernising the bathroom to enhance its luxury feel.
Here's what we did:
We reconfigured the bunk room by moving its access further down the corridor and relocating the radiator. This change allowed us to replace the bunk beds with two single beds, which can also serve as a king-size bed, thus improving the room’s flow and versatility. The old pine cupboard was revived with a coat of red paint and new bamboo handles for a stylish, functional touch. Additional enhancements include themed prints and gorgeous wallpaper to add character.
Kitchen refresh:
Without replacing the entire kitchen, our cabinet maker introduced new elements to integrate a fridge-freezer and added shelving to enhance symmetry and functionality. The existing sink was retained and fitted with a new tap to modernise the look. A bespoke table and bench seating were designed to maximise space, accommodating up to six people with integrated storage solutions. The kitchen floor was replaced with a durable Karndean floor that ties in with the existing sitting room flooring, reflecting our commitment to sustainable refurbishment practices.
Sitting room redesign:
The quirky chimney breast with a gas stove was remodelled into a sleek media wall featuring an electric fireplace and housing for a TV. A Frame TV, capable of displaying personal photos, was installed, transforming the device into an art piece when not in use. Swivel chairs were introduced to allow guests to enjoy both the estuary views and in-room conversations. The bay window, which previously had five small blinds that obstructed the view, was redressed with a simple curtain setup to enhance natural light and maintain the breathtaking views.
Bathroom renew:
The small bathroom was transformed into a luxury wet room, with the outdated corner bath removed and new tiles and fixtures installed to maximise space.
Additional features:
Throughout the apartment, we added tongue-and-groove panelling in the hallway to withstand the rigours of holiday letting, themed the colour scheme around the blue kitchen tiles, and featured artwork from local artists like Kate Barker and Lucy Young.
This project required meticulous planning and a strategic approach to ensure every aspect of the property was utilised efficiently, making it luxurious and allowing our clients to appeal to a wider range of guests.
